Production Monitoring

Many oil and gas production wells are in remote locations, so it is often not feasible to connect the site through the internet, a phone line or some other wired network connection. Those wells are checked by field personnel who visit the site, often once a day, to collect data on production, check the levels of the storage tanks, and verify that all of the equipment at the site is operating normally. However, these locations are often expensive to visit. Furthermore, there can be several hours of downtime between when equipment failure causes a well shutdown and when the failure is discovered. This delay can amount to hundreds or thousands of dollars in lost production.

The Mesh Systems solution provides a central point for communication to automate data collection and alerts from the site, and provides automated notifications of equipment failures. This is accomplished using electronic flow meters installed in pipelines and level sensors with data outputs installed in tanks. Sensors with data outputs are also installed to monitor wellhead pressure, for pump or compressor operation, and to monitor other site equipment. Our solution receives data when it comes in from the sites and performs analysis to identify whether any noteworthy conditions have developed in the field. When exceptions do occur, the application can then bring it to the attention of the appropriate operations personnel.

The Mesh Systems portal service provides automated remote monitoring, as well as the wireless communication service to the remote well sites. The system collects, analyzes, and displays data from virtually any sensor that is used to instrument equipment at an oil or gas production well. Our oil and gas solution performs valve status checks and the capability to close off valves in emergency situations; provides leak detection and the immediate ability to isolate leakage; and monitors pipeline pressures, temperatures, flow conditions, and pipeline wrapping integrity. The system can also analyze cathodic data including rectifier current and voltage, which provides protection against corrosion and possible pipe failure.

Storage Tank Monitoring

In the United States alone, approximately 680,000 underground storage tanks (USTs) house petroleum and other hazardous substances that can harm the environment and human health if the USTs release their stored contents. Federal law requires monthly monitoring of these USTs, with fines up to $11,000 per day per tank for failure to comply. Mesh Systems provides a complete, integrated, and customized solution for UST monitoring, including tank content level sensing, interstitial containment system monitoring, perimeter security monitoring, and groundwater/soil contamination detection.
